Re-imagining Children’s Play in Australian Schools
Tasmanian Catholic School Playgrounds are changing. WHS has been a reason for limiting school playgrounds. This workshop will explore why, how and what has been done by Tasmanian Catholic Education to provide a new vision for the best play experiences for school children.
These new playgrounds involve natural elements, loose parts, dirt, mud, water, fire and even mountain bikes. Children must learn to fall and pick themselves back up again. This session will explore and use tools that enable the school leader and educator to chart the difficult ground of competing demands of parent expectations, WHS regulations and overcoming fear of litigation.
